The COVID-19 pandemic requires many of us to stay home but your fertility journey doesn’t have to pause completely. With telehealth you can keep moving forward on your path to parenthood.

Telehealth appointments are great for:

  • Initial consultations
  • Treatment planning for those that have already had fertility testing and workups
  • Getting second opinions
  • Staying connected with your clinic and getting personalized guidance on how to optimize your health while you are waiting for treatment to begin

Keep in mind that most fertility journeys involve moments of waiting and planning, so try to stay positive during this time and understand what you can do to keep your journey moving forward. Telehealth is a great way to get started, so you can begin treatment as soon as possible once life starts to return to normal.

Remember, because fertility treatment is a medical necessity, reproductive endocrinologists are still working and are here for you. At Progyny we understand how frustrating delays can be and we are here to support you and get you safely back into treatment.

What Does a Telehealth Consultation Look Like?

A telehealth appointment is a one-on-one video meeting with your physician. Just like an in-person visit, you’ll meet your doctor, discuss your medical history and explore possible treatments. Your physician will probably recommend some diagnostic testing (some of which may be done during COVID-19 at the clinic or a local lab).

Finding the right doctor for you is extremely important. Telehealth is a great opportunity to connect with your physician and see if it’s a good mutual fit.

How Should I Prepare Before My Appointment?

Collect copies of all your medical records, including any records of previous fertility treatments, annual gynecological visits, and immunizations. This is also a great opportunity to prepare a list of questions for your doctor. If you have a partner, ask them to join you for the consultation. Please note, if a stable wifi connection is unavailable, consultations can also be held over the phone.

What is My Financial Responsibility?

Progyny members have coverage for telehealth. Just like any initial consultation, your member financial responsibility will be applied according to your medical plan.
