Frequently Asked Questions

You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers

Why was Progyny started?

Our fertility benefits solution was established in 2015 when a handful of forward-thinking employers voiced frustration with the existing fertility benefits solutions because: employees were running out of coverage mid-treatment; dollars were being wasted on ineffective treatments; coverage was inaccessible to many; and poor clinical outcomes were leading to significant costs from IVF-related multiple births. Progyny was designed to solve these problems.

Progyny completed its initial public offering in 2019 and trades on Nasdaq under the ticker PGNY.

What type of support do you offer?

Progyny PCAs are registered nurses and other fertility specialists trained to provide highly personalized service across each member’s unique fertility and family building needs, including surrogacy and adoption. Progyny PCAs achieve a world-class Net Promoter Score (NPS) of +81.

Do you offer surrogacy and adoption benefits?

Yes, Progyny supports all paths to parenthood. For members pursuing surrogacy, Progyny’s proprietary Smart Cycle benefit design can be used for pre-transfer embryology services including egg retrieval (from a covered member), diagnostic testing, fertilization, embryo monitoring, and genetic testing. Progyny PCAs provide counseling and extensive education to members who are considering surrogacy or adoption, including information on the typical process, timeframe, and costs; accredited lawyers and agencies; state laws that might impact their options; and personalized counseling and support for same-sex and transgender couples. For employers who offer additional surrogacy and adoption financial assistance, Progyny manages the reimbursement of eligible expenses.

Does Progyny have preferred fertility specialists?

Yes, Progyny has developed the nation’s largest network of preferred fertility specialists. Our network includes 900 providers in 650 locations. Our invite-only network of providers have met a set of rigorous thresholds for inclusion and utilize the latest scientific technologies, follow best clinical practices, and provide culturally competent care. We have a dedicated Provider Account Management Team that is responsible for ongoing monitoring and active management of the network.

Can you report outcomes results from your book of business?

Yes, Progyny is unique in that we capture and report actual outcomes for our members as opposed to projecting outcomes or assuming a member achieves the clinic’s overall outcome. Progyny clients recieve detailed quarterly and annual reporting that allows them to fully assess the value that they are receiving from the Progyny program. Most importantly, they can understand what specific services they are paying for and what value they receive (in terms of clinical outcomes and member satisfaction).

How much does Progyny cost?

Progyny leverages our book of business experience to build a custom financial analysis for each prospective client so you and your leadership know what to expect from the Progyny benefit. With our solution, you can expect to save in three key areas: lower treatment costs, lower pharmacy costs, and lower high-risk maternity and NICU costs. Our analysis will quantify these expected savings for you as compared to a lifetime maximum dollar benefit. Contact us for a custom financial and cost analysis.
