Planning for Open Enrollment FAQ

Progyny is here to help you every step of the way as you navigate your fertility and family building journey, including understanding your options during open enrollment. We want to ensure you have the tools you need to make informed decisions around your benefit and have compiled the most frequently asked open enrollment questions to help you best prepare for your next steps. If you are a Progyny member, you can always reach out to your dedicated Patient Care Advocate and our team of Clinical Educators for more information, guidance, and support.

How will I know what medical plans are eligible for Progyny coverage?

Your employer will most commonly communicate coverage details specific to the medical plans you may have available to you, including Progyny. Be sure to connect with your benefits team if you have any questions, and your PCA will also be able to help you verify more details about covered services.

My employer is offering Progyny this coming year, but I’m already mid-treatment. How will this affect me and my potential coverage?

If you are currently undergoing fertility treatment, rest assured that you will have access to options that allow for a seamless transition to Progyny coverage during or after your fertility treatment. Your Patient Care Advocate (PCA) can help you best understand how the transition of care will affect your specific journey and what you can expect from current and future claims, provider coverage, and more. PCAs are available for contact Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. EST.

Both my and my partner’s open enrollment period is coming up. What should we keep in mind?

When you’re thinking about your elections for the upcoming year, take the time to compare both yours and your partner’s plan options – including if Progyny is available as a benefit through just one plan, or both. This can help you predict what types of services you may have available to you moving forward, potential costs, and if you may need to coordinate benefits. Please note that your employer may offer access to your PCA before your benefit is effective in order to help answer these types of questions ahead of time.

How do I get started?

To get started, call your PCA who will confirm your eligibility and activate your benefit. Your PCA can answer any questions you might have about your benefit – including those related to insurance coverage and finances, and will stick with you along your journey by providing ongoing clinical and emotional support.
