Beating breast cancer

The DocTalk series, where we discuss current events in the industry and what they might mean for you. From news articles, research studies, pop culture, and everything in between, we’re going to break it all down and sift through the noise with the help of our expert, Dr. Janet Choi, Progyny’s Chief Medical Officer.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and for this episode, we brought on Progyny’s own Laura Perez to discuss her diagnosis with breast cancer and the importance of advocating for your own health.

Recently the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force has urged women to get mammogram screenings earlier, starting at age 40, whereas the previous recommendation was to start this at age 50. This should serve as a good reminder to prioritize one’s health and listen to your body! If something doesn’t feel right, start asking questions. Prevention and early detection can start by advocating for yourself.
