Getting to Know our Medical Advisory Board: Dr. Temeka Zore

Dr. Temeka Zore

When did you know that you wanted to be a reproductive endocrinologist?

I knew I wanted to a REI after my first rotation in my second year of residency. I was drawn to the patients I was able to meet, the rapidly evolving technology, and the ability to advocate and educate for patients at all stages of their reproductive journeys.

What is the most rewarding part of being a reproductive endocrinologist?

Meeting our amazing patients and being given the opportunity to be a part of people’s reproductive journey.

Why is access to care important to you?

Access to care and especially reproductive care is important because everyone has a basic right to create a family. Additionally, infertility and miscarriage are still seen as taboo topics (although the conversations around them are definitely increasing), and improving access to care improves awareness, education, and support on the topics.

What advice would you give to someone starting their fertility journey?

First and foremost is to make sure you feel comfortable with the doctor and clinic you are choosing. This can be a long journey and it is important to feel your doctor is partnering with you on your path to parenthood. Additionally, realizing that your mental and emotional health are as important as your physical health, and making sure to be kind to yourself during this journey.

What new research is underway that you are excited about?

While I am excited about the scientific research that continues to evolve in this field, I am most looking forward to the continued advocacy of improving fertility benefits and access to fertility care, so more people are able to start or expand their families who are dealing with infertility.
