Getting To Know: Liana

A Patient Care Advocate

Patient Care Advocates (PCAs) are an integral part of a member’s fertility journey with Progyny, and we would like you to get to know them better. This week, we’re happy to introduce Liana Laurenceau, a Patient Care Advocate.

Name: Liana Laurenceau

What’s your background in healthcare/fertility?
I began my career in fertility in 2014 when I worked at a fertility pharmacy, coordinating medications for treatment protocols. I then transitioned to a fertility clinic, where I first worked as a prescription coordinator and then a finance coordinator.

What do you enjoy the most about being a patient care advocate?
I love interacting with the members and helping them understand the Progyny benefit, as well as understand health insurance generally. Once my members understand what is included, they’re always grateful.

What’s your favorite/best moment so far at Progyny?
There was one member who, after our 30-40-minute introductory call, was so appreciative that she found the Progyny CEO’s email online and sent him a direct note about the level of personalized care and support I provided her. It was so touching!

What does family mean to you?
I have two boys. They’re the ones who drive you craziest, but you love them the most!

Give one word to describe the impact you’ve made on a member’s life:
Appreciation.

What’s a fun fact about you?
I am a serious cook! I’m half Spanish so I love to cook Spanish dishes and have family meals, but I’ve recently expanded my cooking to add some Italian, Mediterranean and Asian dishes to the mix! I’m always watching cooking videos and exploring new recipes – I may be borderline obsessed! I’m also a huge animal lover!

What’s the last TV series or movie you binged-watched?
Lock & Key.

Do you have any personal goals for this year?
Surviving the quarantine! I am also looking forward to advancing my career at Progyny and watching the continuous company growth.
